The SA office looked at the system logs and concluded one of our disks is going bad. I'm going to check cable connections, then do some backups. The suspect disk has virtually all of our active user and data directories; if it fails we will be out of business for a while. Even if it doesn't fail, but we have to swap in a new disk, there will be some significant down time. This size of our disks is also an inconvenience, and given their age, we should consider replacing them soon. (This may also require replacing magellan.) Many laptops include 30 Gbyte disks as standard equipment, with a full system cost of ~$1500. The disks are presumably much cheaper.
