He should be able to create a new RSR (and label I suppose) by >trimming the last four minutes off of this recording. He can also decide >whether to record the new file in the MgsDB or not... I have trimmed the last 4 minutes from each file; it appears the same 'feature' occurred in each - about a minute during which the carrier level dropped by about 4 dB. The new files and labels are in /users/z20/rsimpson/RSR. When finished, please remove the files, labels, and the parent RSR directory (or send me a message, and I'll do it). There is no need to enter the truncated files in the data base (or save them). We can reconstruct them if needed. FYI - the program I use is ~rsimpson/ARCHIVE/file_edit (on mgrs, it is ~rsimpson/file_edit). It prompts you for the original file name, the new file name, the record length, the first record/byte you want to remove, and the last record/byte you want to remove. If, as in this case, you just want to remove all records from 1442 to the end, the fourth input is 1442 -1 and you don't need the fifth. You can remove as little as a byte or as much as everything except one byte. But the program will throw away a partial record at the end, so it's not perfect. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu Tue Mar 11 09:18:27 2003 Date: Mon, 10 Mar 2003 17:08:19 -0800 (PST) From: Dick Simpson 723-3525 To: aseel@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov Cc: joe@neptune.stanford.edu, kusza@magellan.stanford.edu Subject: ISA etc Aseel: Per today's health report, the oscillations at DSS 54 do not seem to have gone away. I'm checking with the DSN scheduler on which RSR he is scheduling for MGS. I remember telling him to schedule RSR2A, but I'm verifying that. I'm assuming that the person who used the RSR looked at the schedule and it showed that RSR2A is free, so he decided to use it. I sent an email to SPC-40 reminding them not to use the RSRs without checking with us first, even if the schedule shows that it's available.
