Data control said that other than some ranging problems, the pass was nominal. The station said that they didn't have a record of the SNR during our measurements, but that they did see the SNR increase to about 63.7 dB when telemetry was turned off. Measurement 18336 was partially captured over DSS-25. EOT occurred before ingress, so ingress was not captured (but the measurement is included in the email notification). The SNR values were around normal levels, so the problem is not spacecraft related. The RSR log file does not show any error messages that would indicate problems. The predicts look fine, and so does the script file. I asked the RSR group to take a look at the RSR log file in case I missed something. I'll keep you updated. (See Below) We have three passes next week that are DSS-63 DEMOs. This will thankfully NOT impact the Flex Modes test because I put it intentionally on operational stations. However, this affects MM268 and MM269. Why were projects notified so late of this change?! And now MDAPT has to reschedule also for Week 16, which affects the next sequences. This is e-mail is to let everyone know on the MGS project. Jared Call is looking into what he can do for us. MM268B cannot be changed due to this late notice, we will have to take the data loss, we'll have to see about MM269. Mystery solved! The RSR group looked at the log, and didn't find any problems. Sal ran a few tests, and found nothing. Then ... the station personnel said that (sometime between the last SPC-40 MGS pass on DOY 103 and the pass on DOY 105) they were trouble shooting the fluctuation problem that Stanford has been reporting, and in the process, switched the polarization from X-RCP and X-LCP. They forgot that it would impact Radio Science and did not switch it back in order to continue investigating the fluctuation problem. They said that had I been looking at X-LCP, things would've been fine (it's been at least two years since I last had to look at X-LCP, and it was a DSP related problem. Anyhow, Sal reminded me that a 30 dB lower SNR is an indication that I'm looking at the wrong polarization). The station switched back to X-RCP in time for the DSS-43 pass on DOY 107 and the egress campaign. I submitted a DR, but don't have a number yet. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From aseel@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov Fri Apr 18 10:20:03 2003 From: "Aseel Anabtawi" To: "Dick Simpson 723-3525" , , Subject: Fw: DR Request - MGS Radio Science Date: Fri, 18 Apr 2003 10:31:55 -0700 MIME-Version: 1.0 X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V5.50.4522.1200 This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_019E_01C30595.BBFD46F0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable DR # is N100969. ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Myers, Michael=20 To: 'Aseel Anabtawi'=20 Sent: Friday, April 18, 2003 8:27 AM Subject: RE: DR Request - MGS Radio Science The DR you have requested has been submitted.
