I re-extracted the MCH file and the problem arose because the Spacecraft ID numbers in M-1242 fluctuate from 94 to 53 to 23. M-1742 is all '53' though, so it seems like the program made the correct guess in choosing DCC 1. All should be well (MCT files look fine), but just to be sure, could you check the printouts: There should be 3 double-sided pages of ECH data, 3 double-sided pages of MCH data with DSS 65 with channels in the 1200-range (e.g. 1242 not 1742 or 2242). Channels are 1241, 1242, 1243, 1245, 1246, 1266, 1267, 1268, 1299, 1301, 1302, 1304, 1310, 1315, 1318, and 1506. The only points plotted at at the very end of the day - probably after 23:40. Hard to distinguish things like azimuth angle from tic marks along the edge. 1242 (SC_ID) does jump around; I'll believe 23-94. Correct, with 6th side half filled. What we may be seeing are transient values during set up. The pass wasn't scheduled to start until the next day at 00:45, and it was MSPA so would have included both 53 and 94. I'm surprised the 23 and 53 values were picked up in our query for SC 94 data; but I don't know how the filter works, so we may just be seeing its imperfections. This doesn't help your scheme for identifying the data stream from the first few MCH values. But JPL/DSN would probably claim they are only obligated to be accurate during the time of the scheduled pass. We could modify the code to query only for the actual pass times; but that carries some problems as well.
