From this morning's tagup, we have approved the Telecom Hardware commands for radiation later this morning. In work is the new SCP target that will hopefully place the HGA (and LGT1) boresight nearer the earth assuming the HGA stuck in an edge on position in the original SCP configuration. This is scheduled for discussion at the 13:00 MST meeting today. Do we send this prior to the MRO image? If so, we will command conference the uplink product. The majority power voting logic appears it should be detecting "sun on array" immediately coming out of eclipse. The thresholds are set very low. Originally we thought they were set to higher values and may prevent the "sun on array" flag from being set. It appears this is not the case. STL continues to be used to verify/validate various paths and logic in Telecom and Power. The hope is to find a path, threshold, trigger that might explain the observables to date (or lack of) and result in some action we can take for the spacecraft. Stay tuned ..... We are losing some DSN coverage to MRO for the upcoming image. All uplinks must be carefully scheduled to account for this. No signals detected, commanding continues in attempts to force the spacecraft into a recognizable configuration. The MRO image of MGS has apparently been postponed; I gather there will be a context image Friday (probably to confirm targeting at relatively long range), then a higher resolution image next Sunday or Monday. Tom Thorpe said they were hoping for 15 cm resolution.
