As a result, MGS signals were reduced to a level indistinguishable from the input DC bias on the analog-to-digital converters. All open-loop data scheduled for collection at SPC 60 between 1999/097 and 1999/100 (inclusive) were lost while operators tried to diagnose and cure the problem. Reboots and other corrective procedures were ineffective; in the end a manual reconfiguration apparently was successful. In addition to the five occultations noted above, 3 others late on day 1999/099, one early on 1999/100, and 3 more late on 1999/100 simply were not attempted. One occultation scheduled to start at 1999/101-08:12:00 failed because of a typographical error in the remote operations script. Data beginning at 1999/100-07:24:00 and 1999/100-07:25:26 are from same occultation. The first file contains only noise and ends at 07:25:06. Then there is a 20 sec gap before data resumed. For science, the second file should be sufficient unless an extra noise baseline is needed. Cause of the interruption is unknown. Most egress occultations observed from HEF sites have spectral ripples. There are hints of ripples in DSS 34 quick-look processing results. There is possible clipping during the diffraction overshoot in data starting at 1999/100-06:41:00. But attenuator settings were adjusted for the next occultation and amplitude spreads in the subsequent occultations (at all antennas) look much better. At least half of the occultations include hints of a surface echo; some are quite strong.
