Aseel was able to reach SPC 10 by logging in through the DSN firewall from another workstation and got the DSP running for 6115i and 6116i. Occultation 6116i (DSS 65, start time 2000/2002-18:44:00) appears to have been lost. Recording was planned to extend 5 minutes beyond the official end of track (to 18:50:00); in fact, it extended to only 18:49:14. But the signal fades away at 18:46:31. The fade occurs over a few tenths of a second with no sign of a diffraction pattern, antenna beam pattern, or surface echo. This suggests that the receiver gain was reduced, but the exact process is not clear. The weight of the evidence indicates, however, that we did not capture the occultation. Occultation 6119i (DSS 45, start time 2000/203-00:37:00) has the first clear evidence for a surface echo in post-solar conjunction quick look processing. All occultations (except 6116i) show a surface echo when examined at high time and frequency resolution. Data from occultation 6124i (DSS 65, start time 2000/203-10:25:00) have not been found. Cause is unknown. All data continue to show noise in amplitude and phase from solar effects; but these are diminishing as we move away from conjunction. Joe Twicken has been reporting "uncorrectable POCA errors" in occultation recordings for the past two months. These are found only in data from SPC 10; the rate at which they are occurring seems to be going up. Note that data more recent than 2000-07-15 (2000-197) have not yet been processed. No data were collected between 2000-06-23 and 2000-07-12, inclusive.
