The SIS for TRK-2-34, the DSMS Tracking System Data Archival Format (which will replace the ODF and ATDF) was distributed separately last week. Sami Asmar has since noted that his group at JPL has been following the situation, and Gene Goltz called this morning. Gene says the current schedule would put the TRK-2-34 format into one complex by mid-2002 for at least testing purposes and that all stations would be using the TRK-2-34 a year later. He also says that, although ATDF-like fields (including Doppler) have been added to the TRK-2-34, it is not clear that these have the same definitions as the current parameters and that there seems to be little opportunity to make comparative testing. MGS users of the ODF and ATDF do not necessarily need to worry, however, because the current MGS plan does not include data collection after early 2002.
