We are continuing to process the tracking data since June 1- even though MOLA is off. The tracking is getting pretty bad though and is quite sparse. Do you have any need for orbits from June 17,2000 to June 24,2000? (we are going to suspend processing anyway for solar conjunction - from June 24 to July 25.) I was in Nice for EGS in late April, I have a ton or work to do, and the meeting was primarily for gravity/MOLA. (And 9 time zones = a lot of jet lag...) Thanks for asking about the recent orbits. We're still collecting occultation data, but the data close to solar conjunction are not likely to be useful. At present I see no need for orbits between June 17th and 24th. That period is close enough to conjunction that we've probably reached a point of diminishing returns for both the occultation and tracking data. It will be resumed on 2000/195 (July 13). So, in absolute terms, there is no need for orbit reconstructions during that time period. Dave has already set some looser bounds based on observed data quality. So far as I'm concerned, you can go with those. You probably know that ranging was discontinued on 2000/099. That apparently was on the recommendation of NAV -- so that an additional 0.5 dB could be used to improved the Doppler measurements. Tyler suspects that he was informed about the change; but it was clear in Toulouse that it really didn't register with anyone on the Radio Science Team. Sami Asmar is going to look into getting ranging restored -- at some reasonable time after conjunction. With people like Smith and Balmino on your side, it was impressive how quickly your summer trip was restored. Sorry to miss you at the meeting, but I'm guessing you'll be able to recover almost everything else. Best wishes once you finally get on your way.
