charset=us-ascii Content-Length: 1374 Status: RO Hello again Aseel- I received your phone message concerning the options for SPC 40. You said you could go ahead and collect data with reduced-quality tuning predicts, or you could have the DSP declared red and elevate the priority of repairs. I went ahead and processed the data from occultations 7746i and 7747i with an SPK file which we have recently transfered from the FIS. As I said in the health report today, either these were collected with extremely poor predicts or there was a POCA problem and corresponding frequency instability. Processing of the data from these two occultations has demonstrated that there is, in fact, a problem with the POCA. These are a loss for science. We can deal with tuning predicts which do not restrict the carrier to a narrow frequency band, but we cannot process data where the POCA readback frequencies and frequency rates are not in agreement. It is not possible to know what (if anything) to believe is correct. Therefore, I suggest that you have the DSP declared red, and have it repaired as quickly as possible. I think that this will produce good data more quickly. So far, the last two SPC 40 passes have been total losses even though we attempted to collect data for every occultation. Please confirm when you receive this message. I also left a message for you on your answering machine. Have a good week-end... Do you know anything about these problems? > > Joe > Hello, Both DSPs were declared red at SPC-40. We lost all data over DSS 45 DOY 334 (7731i-7733i). And we lost the first two measurements over DSS 34 (7734i and 7735i). Elias was talking back and forth with the stations all day waiting for the DSP to be fixed and running tests. The scripts ran, but there was no signal. DSS 34 also mentioned weather problems, but I doubt that was the cause of the problem (the closed-loop receivers were in lock). About 10 minutes before the last measurement over DSS 34 (7736i), the station reported that they believed DSP1 was OK. The DSP was quickly configured, and started running OK, but a couple of minutes into the measurement, we started getting POCA errors. There was no time to do anything, so we continued with the measurement, but I'm not sure about the quality of the data. This last measurement (7736i) was successfully captured over DSS 63. DR# A04240 was written for DSPs being red at SPC-40. Station maintenance continues to look into the problem as we speak. Whatever data you got from SPC-40 today, except for 7736i, will not have a signal. -Aseel -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From joe@neptune.stanford.edu Thu Dec 7 10:49 PST 2000 Received: from neptune.Stanford.EDU (neptune [171.64.90.149]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id KAA07020 for ; Thu, 7 Dec 2000 10:49:50 -0800 (PST) Received: (from joe@localhost) by neptune.Stanford.EDU (8.9.3/8.9.3) id KAA02356; Thu, 7 Dec 2000 10:49:45 -0800 (PST) Message-ID: X-Mailer: XFMail 1.2 [p0] on Solaris X-Priority: 3 (Normal) Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit MIME-Version: 1.0 In-Reply-To: <200012071820.KAA02750@magellan.stanford.edu> Date: Thu, 07 Dec 2000 10:49:45 -0800 (PST) Sender: joe@neptune.stanford.edu From: Joe Twicken To: joe@nova.stanford.edu, rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu, hinson@nova.stanford.edu Subject: RE: ODR Notice: /users/z21/procODR/03421800 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Length: 1487 Status: RO (1) The following recordings were possibly contaminated by momentum desaturations: 03351337.ODR: desaturation from 2000/335-13:14:42.000 to 2000/335-13:17:54.000 Note that the one-way light time was approximately 17:12 on the date of the recording (2) The SNR for the 03350546.ODR recording was particularly high, and there is a hint of 60 Hz spurs (3) There was no HGA motion compensation for these recordings On 07-Dec-00 Joe Twicken 723-3597 wrote: > 0335034J.ODR p 63XRXIR1R201 63XRXIC1XX01 63XR1IF1S101 63XR1IS1T101 > 63XR1IS1T201 63XR1IS1T301 63XR1IS1T401 63XR1IS1T501 > 03350546.ODR p 63XRXIR1R201 63XRXIC1XX01 63XR1IF1S101 63XR1IS1T101 > 63XR1IS1T201 63XR1IS1T301 63XR1IS1T401 63XR1IS1T501 > 03350744.ODR p 65XRXIR1R201 65XRXIC1XX01 65XR1IF1S101 65XR1IS1T101 > 65XR1IS1T201 65XR1IS1T301 65XR1IS1T401 65XR1IS1T501 > 03350942.ODR p 65XRXIR1R201 65XRXIC1XX01 65XR1IF1S101 65XR1IS1T101 > 65XR1IS1T201 65XR1IS1T301 65XR1IS1T401 65XR1IS1T501 > 03351139.ODR p 25XRXIR1R201 25XRXIC1XX01 25XR1IF1S101 25XR1IS1T101 > 25XR1IS1T201 25XR1IS1T301 25XR1IS1T401 25XR1IS1T501 > 03351337.ODR p 25XRXIR1R201 25XRXIC1XX01 25XR1IF1S101 25XR1IS1T101 > 25XR1IS1T201 25XR1IS1T301 25XR1IS1T401 25XR1IS1T501 > 03351535.ODR p 25XRXIR1R201 25XRXIC1XX01 25XR1IF1S101 25XR1IS1T101 > 25XR1IS1T201 25XR1IS1T301 25XR1IS1T401 25XR1IS1T501 > 03351733.ODR p 25XRXIR1R201 25XRXIC1XX01 25XR1IF1S101 25XR1IS1T101 > 25XR1IS1T201 25XR1IS1T301 25XR1IS1T401 25XR1IS1T501 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From joe@neptune.stanford.edu Tue May 29 11:08 PDT 2001 Received: from neptune.Stanford.EDU (neptune [171.64.90.149]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id LAA07898 for ; Tue, 29 May 2001 11:08:50 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from joe@localhost) by neptune.Stanford.EDU (8.9.3/8.9.3) id LAA15006; Tue, 29 May 2001 11:08:20 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: X-Mailer: XFMail 1.2 [p0] on Solaris X-Priority: 3 (Normal) Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit MIME-Version: 1.0 In-Reply-To: <200105291732.KAA05920@magellan.stanford.edu> Date: Tue, 29 May 2001 11:08:20 -0700 (PDT) Sender: joe@neptune.stanford.edu From: Joe Twicken To: joe@nova.stanford.edu, rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu, hinson@nova.stanford.edu Subject: RE: ODR Notice: /users/z19/procODR/11491659 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Length: 1454 Status: R (1) Reprocessed with Goddard trajectory (2) The following recordings were possibly contaminated by momentum desaturations: 03351337.ODR: desaturation from 2000/335-13:14:42.000 to 2000/335-13:17:54.000 Note that the one-way light time was approximately 17:12 on the date of the recording (3) There was no HGA motion compensation for the 0335034J.ODR and 03350546.ODR recordings On 29-May-01 Joe Twicken 723-3597 wrote: > 0335034J.ODR p 63XRXIR1R202 63XRXIC1XX02 63XR1IF1S102 63XR1IS1T102 > 63XR1IS1T202 63XR1IS1T302 63XR1IS1T402 63XR1IS1T502 > 03350546.ODR p 63XRXIR1R202 63XRXIC1XX02 63XR1IF1S102 63XR1IS1T102 > 63XR1IS1T202 63XR1IS1T302 63XR1IS1T402 63XR1IS1T502 > 03350744.ODR p 65XRXIR1R202 65XRXIC1XX02 65XR1IF1S102 65XR1IS1T102 > 65XR1IS1T202 65XR1IS1T302 65XR1IS1T402 65XR1IS1T502 > 03350942.ODR p 65XRXIR1R202 65XRXIC1XX02 65XR1IF1S102 65XR1IS1T102 > 65XR1IS1T202 65XR1IS1T302 65XR1IS1T402 65XR1IS1T502 > 03351139.ODR p 25XRXIR1R202 25XRXIC1XX02 25XR1IF1S102 25XR1IS1T102 > 25XR1IS1T202 25XR1IS1T302 25XR1IS1T402 25XR1IS1T502 > 03351337.ODR p 25XRXIR1R202 25XRXIC1XX02 25XR1IF1S102 25XR1IS1T102 > 25XR1IS1T202 25XR1IS1T302 25XR1IS1T402 25XR1IS1T502 > 03351535.ODR p 25XRXIR1R202 25XRXIC1XX02 25XR1IF1S102 25XR1IS1T102 > 25XR1IS1T202 25XR1IS1T302 25XR1IS1T402 25XR1IS1T502 > 03351733.ODR p 25XRXIR1R202 25XRXIC1XX02 25XR1IF1S102 25XR1IS1T102 > 25XR1IS1T202 25XR1IS1T302 25XR1IS1T402 25XR1IS1T502
