What happened was that the transmitter at 54 was red, so 65 picked up from BOT until EOT. We weren't aware of this change. The scripts ran OK, but the DSP was configured for BWG (54) instead of 65 (HEF), and that's why there was no carrier. No DR was written because the Ops Chief said that this was a real time change and they did their best so that no data would be lost, and since another DSS took over and "no data was lost," there was no need for a DR. Of course I let her know that we lost all four measurements. 54's transmitter is OK now. We just had our first and only measurement over tonight's pass, and it went well. -Aseel -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From aseel@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov Fri Dec 8 21:43 PST 2000 Received: from godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov [137.78.177.120]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id VAA00353 for ; Fri, 8 Dec 2000 21:43:51 -0800 (PST) Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov (8.9.3/8.9.3) with SMTP id VAA01239 for ; Fri, 8 Dec 2000 21:43:52 -0800 (PST) Message-Id: <200012090543.VAA01239@godzilla.jpl.nasa.gov> Date: Fri, 8 Dec 2000 21:43:52 -0800 (PST) From: Aseel Anabtawi Reply-To: Aseel Anabtawi Subject: Re: 2000/342 at DSS 54 and 2000/342 at DSS 15 To: rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-MD5: 265jMp+a/sct1ig0Vj76Dw== X-Mailer: dtmail 1.2.1 CDE Version 1.2.1 SunOS 5.6 sun4u sparc Content-Type: TEXT/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Length: 1833 Status: R Actually, I had a talk with the Ops Chief, and asked her if was possible that I get paged in such situations (real-time changes). She said that with the Ops Chief looking over many projects, it's not easy to know who's doing what for every project. I told her that's it's simple for MGS RS: As long as there is an MGS tracking coverage, then RS is definitely doing something. She said to talk to the NOPEs and find a procedure to simplify the process for everyone. This turned out to be a useful conversation. After I was done monitoring the DSS 25 pass on DOY 342 (early this morning), I setup things for DSS 15 and left. Elias was taking over. However, DSS 15 had problems at the beginning of the pass, and DSS 25 was going to continue with the coverage until the problems at 15 were resolved. The Ops Chief asked for the station to put the DSP in the 25 link again, and paged me!! We had 20 minutes before the measurement, but that was enough time for me to regenerate predicts remotely, and for Elias to edit the script files. I thanked her for saving our measurement :) So measurement 7839i was originally planned to be captured over DSS 15, but 15 was down, and it was captured over DSS 25. 7840i and 7841i were captured over DSS 15 as planned. I agree that we should make some noise. Real-time changes have been occurring quite often, particularly at SPC-10 (15 down and 25 takes over). We've been fortunate that we've been catching most of them, but not that 54 pass on DOY 342! I'll talk to Sami about an ISA. > > >No DR was written ... > > I applaud the real time decision. But the fact the Ops Chief > concluded no data were lost sounds like a problem to me. This > might be worth at least an ISA. If we don't make a little > noise, there's no incentive to try harder. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From joe@neptune.stanford.edu Fri Dec 15 11:10 PST 2000 Received: from neptune.Stanford.EDU (neptune [171.64.90.149]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id LAA21733 for ; Fri, 15 Dec 2000 11:10:14 -0800 (PST) Received: (from joe@localhost) by neptune.Stanford.EDU (8.9.3/8.9.3) id LAA04639; Fri, 15 Dec 2000 11:09:58 -0800 (PST) Message-ID: X-Mailer: XFMail 1.2 [p0] on Solaris X-Priority: 3 (Normal) Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit MIME-Version: 1.0 In-Reply-To: <200012151844.KAA18537@magellan.stanford.edu> Date: Fri, 15 Dec 2000 11:09:58 -0800 (PST) Sender: joe@neptune.stanford.edu From: Joe Twicken To: joe@nova.stanford.edu, rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu, hinson@nova.stanford.edu Subject: RE: ODR Notice: /users/z21/procODR/03501830 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Length: 1258 Status: RO (1) The following recordings were possibly contaminated by momentum desaturations: 03422208.ODR: desaturation from 2000/342-21:46:34.000 to 2000/342-21:49:46.000 Note that the one-way light time was approximately 16:42 on the date of the recording (2) There was no HGA motion compensation for these recordings On 15-Dec-00 Joe Twicken 723-3597 wrote: > 03421220.ODR p 25XRXIR1R201 25XRXIC1XX01 25XR1IF1S101 25XR1IS1T101 > 25XR1IS1T201 25XR1IS1T301 25XR1IS1T401 25XR1IS1T501 > 03421419.ODR p 25XRXIR1R201 25XRXIC1XX01 25XR1IF1S101 25XR1IS1T101 > 25XR1IS1T201 25XR1IS1T301 25XR1IS1T401 25XR1IS1T501 > 03421615.ODR p 25XRXIR1R201 25XRXIC1XX01 25XR1IF1S101 25XR1IS1T101 > 25XR1IS1T201 25XR1IS1T301 25XR1IS1T401 25XR1IS1T501 > 03421813.ODR p 25XRXIR1R201 25XRXIC1XX01 25XR1IF1S101 25XR1IS1T101 > 25XR1IS1T201 25XR1IS1T301 25XR1IS1T401 25XR1IS1T501 > 0342181D.ODR p 45XRXIR1R201 45XRXIC1XX01 45XR1IF1S101 45XR1IS1T101 > 45XR1IS1T201 45XR1IS1T301 45XR1IS1T401 45XR1IS1T501 > 03422011.ODR p 45XRXIR1R201 45XRXIC1XX01 45XR1IF1S101 45XR1IS1T101 > 45XR1IS1T201 45XR1IS1T301 45XR1IS1T401 45XR1IS1T501 > 03422208.ODR p 45XRXIR1R201 45XRXIC1XX01 45XR1IF1S101 45XR1IS1T101 > 45XR1IS1T201 45XR1IS1T301 45XR1IS1T401 45XR1IS1T501 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From joe@neptune.stanford.edu Wed May 30 15:13 PDT 2001 Received: from neptune.Stanford.EDU (neptune [171.64.90.149]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id PAA08407 for ; Wed, 30 May 2001 15:13:31 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from joe@localhost) by neptune.Stanford.EDU (8.9.3/8.9.3) id PAA16253; Wed, 30 May 2001 15:13:01 -0700 (PDT) Message-ID: X-Mailer: XFMail 1.2 [p0] on Solaris X-Priority: 3 (Normal) Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit MIME-Version: 1.0 In-Reply-To: <200105302158.OAA07637@magellan.stanford.edu> Date: Wed, 30 May 2001 15:13:01 -0700 (PDT) Sender: joe@neptune.stanford.edu From: Joe Twicken To: joe@nova.stanford.edu, rsimpson@magellan.stanford.edu, hinson@nova.stanford.edu Subject: RE: ODR Notice: /users/z19/procODR/11502127 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Length: 1309 Status: RO (1) Reprocessed with Goddard trajectory (2) The following recordings were possibly contaminated by momentum desaturations: 03422208.ODR: desaturation from 2000/342-21:46:34.000 to 2000/342-21:49:46.000 Note that the one-way light time was approximately 16:41 on the date of the recording (3) There was no HGA motion compensation for the 03421419.ODR recording On 30-May-01 Joe Twicken 723-3597 wrote: > 03421220.ODR p 25XRXIR1R202 25XRXIC1XX02 25XR1IF1S102 25XR1IS1T102 > 25XR1IS1T202 25XR1IS1T302 25XR1IS1T402 25XR1IS1T502 > 03421419.ODR p 25XRXIR1R202 25XRXIC1XX02 25XR1IF1S102 25XR1IS1T102 > 25XR1IS1T202 25XR1IS1T302 25XR1IS1T402 25XR1IS1T502 > 03421615.ODR p 25XRXIR1R202 25XRXIC1XX02 25XR1IF1S102 25XR1IS1T102 > 25XR1IS1T202 25XR1IS1T302 25XR1IS1T402 25XR1IS1T502 > 03421813.ODR p 25XRXIR1R202 25XRXIC1XX02 25XR1IF1S102 25XR1IS1T102 > 25XR1IS1T202 25XR1IS1T302 25XR1IS1T402 25XR1IS1T502 > 0342181D.ODR p 45XRXIR1R202 45XRXIC1XX02 45XR1IF1S102 45XR1IS1T102 > 45XR1IS1T202 45XR1IS1T302 45XR1IS1T402 45XR1IS1T502 > 03422011.ODR p 45XRXIR1R202 45XRXIC1XX02 45XR1IF1S102 45XR1IS1T102 > 45XR1IS1T202 45XR1IS1T302 45XR1IS1T402 45XR1IS1T502 > 03422208.ODR p 45XRXIR1R202 45XRXIC1XX02 45XR1IF1S102 45XR1IS1T102 > 45XR1IS1T202 45XR1IS1T302 45XR1IS1T402 45XR1IS1T502
