Here is a summary: 1532e Normal 1532i One-way ingress due to NADIR test. This is the beginning of the test. Is there enough one-way baseline? 1533e, 1533i, 1534e, 1534i All lost due to NADIR 1535e Was probably recorded, but there will be no signal. During the NADIR test, the MOT is turned off until a minute after egress. 1535i 055/23:45:00 DSS65 One-way ingress during the NADIR test day. It was actually before DSS 65 BOT. The signal wandered into the passband at the beginning (probably antenna moving to point. ) Noticed too late that attenuators were too high. Probably very low elev. angle. 1536e, 1536i, 1537e, 1537i, 1538e All lost due to NADIR 1538i 056/05:39:00 DSS65 Another one-way ingress 1539e, 1539i, 1540e, 1540i, 1541e All lost due to NADIR test. 1541i 056/11:32:00 DSS25 One-way ingress 1542e, 1542i, 1543e, 1543i, 1544e All lost due to NADIR test. 1544i 056/17:19:00 DSS45 Two-way ingress -- back to normal ABX-TMO operations. 1552i through 1554e Lost due to DSN tracking gap - Y2k testing at Goldstone. 1554i 057/12:55:00 DSS45 Back to normal ABX-TMO operations. 1555 057/13:45:00 Instrument turn on We should be able to collect occultation data normally through this. 1560 057/23:30 Will be the first NADIR orbit During the MOC Calibration, we will be able to collect very little data. The MOT will be turned off until one minute after egress. Ingress will be one-way with a 3 minute 45 second baseline. -Trish -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From ppriest@mmrs.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov Thu Feb 25 17:07:12 1999 Received: from airmail.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov (airmail.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov [137.228.96.12]) by magellan.Stanford.EDU (8.8.5/8.8.3) with ESMTP id RAA11338; You may have received an e-mail about this. The NADIR pointing went very well, and the plan stated in the e-mail still holds. I will summarize below: Orbit Event Periapsis time for first orbit (UTC ERT) 1554 NADIR test 057-11:51:37 1555 - 1557 Gravity Cal. sequence 057-13:49:05 1558 - 1559 NADIR 057-19:42:18 1560 - 1576 Gravity Cal. sequence 057-23:37:37 1577 Instrument turn on 059-08:58:20 1583 Beginning of MOC Cal 059-20:43:53 There was a glitch in the transition between NADIR and the gravity calibration sequence due to the slew rates of the solar arrays. The slew rate was reduced to 1/6 of the normal rate for the Gravity Calibration in order to prevent the carrier drop-out. This slower rate caused some problems during orbit 1555, but they will send a mini-sequence to change the slew rate to normal during the next NADIR to Gravity Cal transition. It should not be a problem again. You may experience a carrier drop-out during orbit 1560, however. Subsequent orbits should be fine. I am not clear about the spacecraft pointing for orbits 1577-1582. I will send an update once the SOE is available. I am also preparing a list of the ISH-ANS transition times for the remainder of the Gravity Calibration period. Please let me know if you need any other information. -Trish
