This test will be performed during a two-way real time pass in order to collect data for navigation and gravity team. Procedure: Change maximum solar array rate to 0.12 deg/sec to avoid loss of signal during test. Stop SAM panel for sixteen (16) minutes. Eight (8) minutes with HGA and SAP tracking and eight (8) minutes with only HGA tracking. Move both SAP and SAM at maximum rate to new positions. SAM is commanded to autotrack mode and will use maximum rate to catch up. SAP will be commanded to rate mode and targeted to the autotrack restart position to limit the power impact. This scheme also limits the maximum rate motion and therefore the maximum disturbances to one small period of time instead of two. The autotrack stops and restarts outside of this single period should be smaller than a typical rewind/autotrack transition because they only involve a single panel at any given time. SAP will be stopped by rate mode once the final target is reached, and will remain stopped for eight (8) minutes. SAP will resume autotrack. The disturbances should be limited by the previous targeting to the autotrack restart positions. Return solar array GDE maximum rates to 0.4 deg/sec. After solar eclipse entry the VT curve should be reset to VT3 to respond to possible actions that can be taken by the computer in response to the testing. Commanding: 1. The first one at DSS 65 and the middle one at DSS45 will have the best elevation angles. (You should have received an e-mail from Jesse Glance. See below.) TES is requesting that the The second TES SA test showed that the faster solar array motion will not hurt the gravity data. (Please correct me if I am wrong.) However, one of the three periods of motion looks like it is very close to or at ingress. From the data during this last TES also found that about 1/3 of the noise that they see is from HGA motion; therefore, they favor periods of fixed-HGA for the second year of mapping. I decision on this matter may be delayed if significant impacts are brought to light at tomorrow's meeting. The driver for the decision is that the Spacecraft Team would need to implement the change before they are busy with MCO aerobraking.
