The current HGA rewind and transmitter-off timing does not look favorable for collecting grazing data. The sequence preparation began today for this period, so I will know more about the grazing occultations on Thursday when the products are available. Once there is actually a surface occultation (Dec. 7th), everything will be set up correctly for occultation data collection. The DSP is scheduled for every DSN tracking pass beginning on Nov. 10th -- except for passes on Nov. 20, 21, 25, 26, 27, and 28 (a weekend and Thanksgiving). We will be using the period between Nov. 10 and Dec. 6 for training and collection of any grazing data possible. On Dec. 3rd, the DSP at SPC 10 will be occupied with MPL Landing. Later in December, there will probably be some entire orbits which are one-way due to multiple spacecraft per aperture (MSPA) operations with MPL. We will collect data for USO characterization whenever possible. Tim Smith will be assisting with operations. He is a Ph.D. student at UCLA. If you have any questions or comments about the resumption of occultations, please let me know. -Trish -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From ppriest@airmail.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov Wed Nov 10 12:36 PST 1999 Received: from thorn.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov (thorn.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov [137.228.90.10]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with SMTP id MAA22010; Wed, 10 Nov 1999 12:36:28 -0800 (PST) Received: by thorn.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov; id MAA00397; Wed, 10 Nov 1999 12:36:52 -0800 Received: from airmail.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov(137.228.96.12) by thorn.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov via smap (V4.2) id xma000329; Wed, 10 Nov 99 12:36:41 -0800 Received: from mmrs.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov (mmrs.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov [137.228.136.10]) by airmail.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov (8.9.3+Sun/8.9.3) with ESMTP id MAA10197; Wed, 10 Nov 1999 12:38:28 -0800 (PST) Received: (from ppriest@localhost) by mmrs.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov (8.8.8+Sun/8.8.8) id UAA14491; Wed, 10 Nov 1999 20:36:39 GMT Date: Wed, 10 Nov 1999 20:36:39 GMT From: "Kathy L. Madrid and the current Goldstone passes seem to have gone well. The coverage is rather strange until MPL landing. There are about 5 tracks per day with a couple at each station with different antennas. We can only schedule the DSP for one antenna, and each pass is shorter than usual. The firehose is about 1/3 the usual strength. That should be enough to get the kinks out, though. -Trish Dick Simpson 723-3525 wrote: > >Note in health report that we got first run, but not second. >Have seen no other e-mails. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- From ppriest@airmail.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov Wed Nov 10 14:59 PST 1999 Received: from thorn.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov (thorn.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov [137.228.90.10]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.9.3/8.9.3) with SMTP id OAA04585; Wed, 10 Nov 1999 14:59:20 -0800 (PST) Received: by thorn.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov; id OAA18192; Wed, 10 Nov 1999 14:59:44 -0800 Received: from airmail.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov(137.228.96.12) by thorn.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov via smap (V4.2) id xma018161; Wed, 10 Nov 99 14:59:42 -0800 Received: from mmrs.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov (mmrs.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov [137.228.136.10]) by airmail.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov (8.9.3+Sun/8.9.3) with ESMTP id PAA12931; Wed, 10 Nov 1999 15:01:29 -0800 (PST) Received: (from ppriest@localhost) by mmrs.fltops.jpl.nasa.gov (8.8.8+Sun/8.8.8) id WAA14758; Wed, 10 Nov 1999 22:59:41 GMT Date: Wed, 10 Nov 1999 22:59:41 GMT From: "Kathy L.
