The change involves adding a line to the PVL file submitted with queries; there was no toggling in data from 97/310. This would close ISA Z44168. Scotty Taylor and Tom Boreham visited briefly yesterday afternoon. Tom suggested using "stot" rather than "uTotFile" to avoid "time-out" errors on queries. We will do that as soon as we have finished with the ISA Z44168 resolution above. Scott Fullner responded to problems in transferring RMDCT/TSAC data from OSCAR/OSCAR2 to Stanford with some route-tracing information. He spoke with Sunia Yang of Stanford Networking. There were 17 hops in our ATDF transfers yesterday (which were taking 6.5 hrs each during midday). It's not clear what options are available; Scott thinks the network is slow at the Stanford end, Sunia thinks it's slow at the JPL end -- which she concludes likely means there's a problem in the middle. While we were transferring 35 MB in 6.5 hrs from JPL, a colleague at UCLA transferred about 1.5 GB from our MAGELLAN server to his machine. But Sunia says that link has only 9 hops and apparently bypasses Stanford's local ISP by going directly to a UC line. Open Loop Data ============== Data Acquisition ---------------- We transfered one segment of open-loop data from the NERT cache. It covered P35 and was on LGT1. YYYY/DDD DSS QUERY SAMP BW DSP BIT TRK REC RECS RECS MAX START STOP RATE MODE RESN MODE LEN MSSG SNR -------- --- -------- -------- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ---- ----- ---- ----- 1997/309 54 16:17:00 17:57:23 5000 2500 2 12 1-W 1666 30116 0 17. Anomalies --------- Fluctuations in the power level of the raw samples were +/-1 dB after about 16:35. Since there was no spacecraft carrier during most of this period, it is not clear what was responsible for the variations. Joe Twicken reports some POCA problems with the P31 (97/303) open- loop data. There were no POCA errors in P34. There were three discrepancies in the POCA file for this recording which required hand-editing. All three involved 100 microHertz discrepancies in readback frequency (given the previous readback frequency and frequency ramp rate) at the time of a ramp rate change. I have seen 10 microHertz errors many times in the past and the "salvagePoca" program corrects that error. I have only seen the 100 microHertz discrepancy once or twice before and I have never modified "salvagePoca" to fix that particular error. Analysis -------- Joe Twicken has analyzed the LGT pattern from periapses P31 and P34. As predicted by Trish Priest, the maneuver to return the spacecraft to Earth point is different and the measured antenna pattern is 1-2 dB lower than for P26-P29. The complete set of measurements is shown in Figure HEA7311A.PS1.
