We have not yet submitted queries for the open-loop data from these occultations. The open-loop data from occultations 16-17 was processed this morning. The data from occultation 16 appear to be corrupted in the same manner as occultation 1. In that case, the data samples were not synchronized with the POCA following a Lunar Prospector recording. The data from occultation 16 also appear to be out of synchronization with the POCA, and the synchronization appears to "slip" at a few points during the recording. There were no problems with the data from occultation 17. Anomalies --------- As discussed above under Miscellaneous, the recording for occultation #16 on 1998/037 at DSS 65 appears to be corrupted. The open-loop samples are out of synchronization with the POCA, and our steering software is unable to satisfactorily remove the frequency drift in the raw data. It is not likely that we will be able to retrieve atmospheric profiles for this occultation. Analysis -------- Joe Twicken has completed analysis of about 60 minutes of one-way data collected at DSS 43 on 98/028. His report: One hour of open-loop data were acquired on 98/028 at DSS 43 prior to the switch to telemetry OFF for the ingress occultation. The time of the recording was 02:36 to 03:36. I have processed the ODR from this period to estimate USO Allan deviation. The data were steered with an SP-kernel (spk_i_980127_OD108_118_V1) which should have contained a reconstructed trajectory during the time of the recording. I did not compensate for antenna motion due to changes in spacecraft attitude. The SNR was 42 dB/Hz.
