We successfully used a remote tape drive to back up data acquired yesterday. This is not as satisfactory as having a tape drive on the SOPC itself, but it allows us to move forward in data collection. Data are staged for two more CD-WO volumes; inoperability of the new CD writer is the last major hardware item left from the SOPC upgrade. The tests beginning at 06:30 and 23:10 appear to have been very comparable: spacecraft two-way, telemetry mod index 80, ground elevation angles 25-30 deg. The data were also collected in the same DSP mode as the earlier occultation data (5000 sps, mode 2, 12-bit samples, filter 3). The observed SNR is statistically indistinguishable based on a quick analysis. There is no 2-6 dB discrepancy in these data. The data collected beginning at 21:19 were obtained with the spacecraft in one-way mode and at an elevation angle of about 13 deg. The low elevation angle may explain the 2 dB difference in SNR from the other two runs. The data collected at 07:20 and 23:50 are potentially comparable, but in a narrower bandwidth. The signal was drifting in the open loop passband, however; so the signal is smeared in 60-sec average spectra and quick-look SNR at DSS 45 is lower.
