We have submitted ISA Z47957 regarding the SOE problems noted in our health report two days ago (HEA8245A.TXT). Since that time there appears to have been some action. FIS data base administration has defined a new RSOE data type, moved all the offending files there, and noted that responding to our complaint will potentially require a lot of "paperwork" (including writing a SIS) and could take weeks. In our ISA we raised the question of FIS configuration control if unilateral actions such as redefinition of major data types are possible. It is also worth noting that the interim solution actually is WORSE for us since our automated collection system now gives us no SOE files at all. Frank Bauragger has been "cleaning" our collection of data files. In the past six months a number of transient files have ended up in our on-line system, some files have been misplaced, a few duplicates have been located, and there are occasional discrepancies between the file set itself and the data base which presumably tracks the files. We are down to the last dozen or so problems -- duplicate files, but where the two copies appear to be slightly different. We should have this process completed later today.
