Both ingress and egress were recorded. The weather at DSS 15 was not ideal, however. It was windy and cloudy. First, the usual ingress information: Record Times: 088-00:59:00 to 088-01:13:00 One-way Times: 088-00:59:37 to 088-01:12:28 Expected Surface Begin: 088-01:10:28 SNT: 32.26 SPK: spk_i_980327_OD202_230_V1 SOE: p203a.01.soe Script: 98088.15.a204.scr There were no attenuation changes. Now for egress (LGA, carrier-only): Record Times: 088-01:51:00 to 02:15:00 Expected egress: 088-01:53:53 The attenuation was not set correctly for most of the egress since this is the first one. There was too much attenuation, but I didn't want to change anything in the middle of the egress data, so I waited until 02:01:49 to start changing things. Now that we have a sense of the LGA level with respect to the HGA level, we should do much better next time. (Now I remember why ingress is easier.) No script was used for egress. The next occultation occurs at 04:49 AM PST Sunday at DSS 65. Since we are using the same SOE and SPK files for the entire weekend, I have already created predicts and sent the script. The signal level remained mostly between -166 and -172 dBm. The timing is as follows: 088-01:53:53 Exit Occultation, spacecraft is NADIR pointed 088-01:54:10 DSS 15 is in lock DSS 45 locked up some time after that 088-02:01:57 Periapsis 205 088-02:15:00 End of Track for DSS 15 088-02:16:59 Spacecraft Begin rollout 088-02:26:59 Spacecraft begin slew back to Earth-point 088-02:38:50 Switch back to HGA, Loss of LGA signal DSS 45 was able to track the LGA signal throughout the NADIR, rollout, and slew back to ANS. This message is similar to the messages Paula and I send out for every occultation measurement. Please let me know if you would like this kind of message for the gravity measurements that we monitor. I slept through two alarm clocks and the occultation. I am very sorry. I usually set three alarms. This won't happen again. The script was set to go; however, it looks like the client/server connection was interrupted. The station had a critical alarm from the DSP and had to reboot around precal. The server automatically restarts itself after a reboot, and it did. The server and client did not reestablish communication, however. When I came in, I started the server again, and everything was fine -- except for the part about being 30 minutes too late for the occultation.
