This is the first exit data I have looked at. The retrieval software did finally run to completion, but only after manual "editing" of the data at several stages. The results have large uncertainties and are of very little value for atmospheric science or radius measurements. There are several general problems with the exit data: 1) Exit occurs near periapsis, and the orbit reconstructions do not remove all the frequency residuals in the post occultation baseline. The spacecraft may be close enough to Mars to produce a significant gravity signature in the data. 2) The spacecraft is within the ionosphere of Mars during a significant portion of the measurements. 3) The post occultation signal intensity varies significantly with time. This may be the result of spacecraft rotation and the LGA antenna pattern. 4) The SNR is quite low. This makes it difficult to identify the 6 dB reduction in signal strength expected as the ray path grazes the surface. Items 1, 2, and 4 affect the atmospheric measurements. Items 3 and 4 affect the radius measurements. I'm not optimistic that we will learn much of value about the atmosphere of Mars from the exit measurements. Radius measurements may not be accurate enough to be useful.
