The change request was just approved. Occultations begin November 20th, and we will be collecting data starting on that date; however, we cannot change the spacecraft parameters in any way. We have to "take what we can get." Therefore, I propose to send a general occultation status to the larger group approximately once per day rather than an e-mail for every occultation. Please let me know if this is a problem. Occultation 171: Went well. At this grazing geometry, the atmosphere lasts longer than the 3 minutes 45 seconds of one-way. There is enough baseline for egress, however. Egress is followed by the MOLA ISH. The station does not have time to go two-way between egress and the MOLA ISH, so we collect one-way data. This is only beneficial until the MOLA ISH and egress overlap. Occultation 172: Unfortunately the station was having significant problems with their telemetry system (TGC). The station and the Ace were heavily involved in rectifying the situation, and the DSP was left out of the link. (They had to switch DSN tracking stations. It was messy. ) Occultation 173: Went well. There egress data should have plenty of baseline for the next several orbits. Occultation 174: A maneuver was performed at apoapsis -- on top of ingress. No data. The maneuver changed the trajectory and the predicts did not follow; therefore, the signal was not in the passband for egress. Once the occultation moves away from apoapsis, this will not be a problem. Until then, we need to find a solution for egress. Larger bandwidth? A different SPK file with the maneuver modeled better? I don't know if that exists. We also received the error message for the sawtooth during this recording period. Occultation 175: Went well. Nice baseline for egress. Occultation 176: Went well. This anomaly was encountered (at DSS-65 only) from DOY 324 (20 November) to DOY 337 (03 December) and spanned eight ATDFs. All of the ATDFs (files 98325T326, 98326T327, 98327T329, 98328T330, 98332T333, 98333T334, 98334T335, and 98335T337) have been corrected, and are available [via OSCAR2] upon request to RMDC. An ODF, 98325O335.RMP, which contains only the corrected ramps (for merging with previously delivered files) has now been placed in NAVOPS$DISK:[NST.SC94] on both OSCAR and OSCAR2.
