The hardware at DSS 24 was configured to support LPM, so no MGS signal could be seen. Sal has since reconfigured DSS 24 for MGS in case this happens again. There was a maneuver at apoapsis 834 which means that the spacecraft was off Earth point for ingress (occultation 261). This evening (DOY 344 UTC), the DSP at SPC 60 was red. They attempted to repair it before the second occultation (263), but it was not back in the link until after the egress had occurred. Occultation 262 (orbit 836) was lost, but I did collect data for occultation 263 egress at DSS 15. DSS 15 had the antenna tracking MGS before the official beginning of track, so we took advantage of it. The transition occurs over approximately 09:34 to 09:35. If the antenna started moving to point at 09:32 and arrived at about 09:35, this would all hold together. The elevation angle was very low, so the 2 dB change in noise level would be from Earth's atmosphere. I see no noise baseline before the spacecraft carrier level kicks in, so the antenna probably got to point just a little too late to catch the egress occultation. No science here, but a great illustration of what it means to pick up a spacecraft near the horizon.
