We will begin doing things in a more unattended fashion. 1. All occultations between 2:30 AM and 5:30 AM (or so) will be unattended. (Is 5:30 okay, Paula?) 2. Egresses will be unattended unless a) you happen to be here and want to watch it, or b) egress is the first occultation measurement in a pass. Just set it up right after you have finished ingress. 3. With some exceptions, we can monitor the first occultation in a pass, then script the remaining occultations (ingress and egress) for that pass and leave them unattended. Because of aerobraking and file deliveries and some odd station allocations, this will not always be possible. I will let you know which can be unattended. 4. In order to accomplish #3 more easily, when you generate predicts, please generate them for the entire pass. This is how it will be for Mapping, so we had better make sure that the DSPs like this. 5. If you come in for the beginning of a pass, please make sure that "finishmgs" was run for the previous pass. If you go to the directory for the previous pass and a file named "stanford" is present, then finishmgs was already run. I am creating new sign-up sheets which include the Precal, BOT, and EOT times so that sign-ups will be more straightforward in this new mode. Thanks for your help. There were about 4-5 bit rate changes during the long record period. I was curious if you saw any differences associated with that. Also, I have been looking into the low signal level. My theory is that what you are seeing is a phantom one-way signal. For 350/02:58 at DSS 54, when you say the signal changed back to the normal level at 03:36, the SOE shows that the spacecraft went 1-way starting at that time. It should have been two-way before that. I have collected all of the LMC logs and will investigate the times in question. I don't think that the fact that most of them are at SPC 40 is as significant as that they are all about the same time of day. -Trish
