END_OBJECT = TEXT END BROWINFO.TXT February 27, 2013 ============================================================================== INTRODUCTION ============================================================================== This file describes the contents of the BROWSE partition of the Chemistry & Camera(ChemCam) submission to NASA's Planetary Data System(PDS). The data included are derived from the operation of the ChemCam spectrometers and are meant for use as an initial reference. The complete ChemCam spectrum consists of 6144 channels over three spectral ranges: UV, VIS, VNIR. The LIBS QuickLook 1 shows the wavelength in nm on the x-axis and a relative intensity on the y-axis (normalized to 1 in each spectral range). To guide the eye, a layer of pre-positioned lines is superimposed on the spectra, but there is not necessarily a match between lines and elements. Pre-positioned lines were chosen for their diagnostic position only. Note that weaker lines does not necessarily correspond to lower abundances, and relative intensities depend also on the laser-target coupling efficiency, on the line emission properties, on self-absorption in the plasma, and on the distance. The captions give information on the low-level processing applied to the spectra, a few housekeeping information, and the total counts in each spectral range. While the LIBS QuickLook 1(LIBS1) shows the average spectrum, the LIBS QuickLook 2(LIBS2) shows a spectrogram, where each individual spectrum represented as a line with its intensity color coded (and the sum spectrum is shown at the top). The directory is organized into Sol's. All of the files are described by detached PDS labels. The file naming convention is: QCHEMCAM_nnnnn_type_sclk.ext where nnnnn is the sol number type is the browse type LIBS1 - Average of DATA LIBS2 - stack plot RMI - RMI sclk is the space craft clock time ext is the file extension (JPG, LBL)
