PDS_VERSION_ID = PDS3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2012-07-10 NOTE = "Description of contents of INDEX directory" END_OBJECT = TEXT END Files in the Index directory are provided to help the user locate products in the archive. There is one index table for each of the four SAM RDR data sets. Each index table (file name L*_INDEX.TAB) is described by a PDS label in a separate file (named L*_INDEX.LBL). Both files are text files. A TAB file has one row for each SAM RDR product in the data set. The columns in the row are fixed-width, separated by commas, with character fields enclosed in double quotation marks ("). Each row ends with the ASCII carriage return and line feed characters. Index tables can be loaded into spreadsheet programs such as Excel for ease of searching. The label file defines each column and gives its start byte, number of bytes, and data type. The index tables contain these columns: 1. Volume ID 2. Path name 3. File name 4. Product ID 5. Product version ID 6. Product creation time 7. Release ID 8. Start time 9. Stop time 10. Spacecraft clock start count 11. Spacecraft clock stop count 12. Local mean solar time 13. Planet day (sol) number 14. Observation ID 15. Solar longitude 16. SAM experiment ID 17. SAM GC column number Currently the entire SAM RDR archive is contained on the single archive volume MSLSAM_1XXX. If it ever becomes necessary to divide the archive into multiple volumes, then the L*_INDEX.TAB files will list only the products on a single volume, and additional index tables named L*_CUMINDEX.TAB will be provided that list the products on all volumes.
