Frankenspectra Database Bundle Melissa Lane The purpose of this investigation was to analyze, using reflectance spectroscopy, 27 fine-particulate (less than 10-um) terrestrial minerals to create a far-UV through MIR single spectrum built from the best pieces of spectra acquired at multiple U.S. and international labs (i.e., Frankenspectra). Multiple-laboratory spectral comparisons increased confidence in determining both better spectral shapes and overall representative reflectance values by considering the reflectance data of each sample as an ensemble. NASA's Solar System Exploration Research Institute (SSERVI) program funded our research project called Toolbox for Research and Exploration (TREX) [https://sservi.nasa.gov/sserviteams/]. Our far-ultraviolet (UV) through mid-IR (MIR) reflectance spectra of common minerals can be used for interpreting data from the surfaces of dusty planetary bodies. Additional information is available in our paper: Lane, Melissa D., Edward A. Cloutis, Roger N. Clark, M. Darby Dyar, Joern Helbert, Amanda R. Hendrix, Gregory Holsclaw, Alessandro Maturilli, Neil Pearson, Mikki Osterloo, Faith Vilas, and Daniel Applin (2024), Reflectance Spectroscopy of 27 Fine-Particulate Mineral Samples From Far-Ultraviolet Through Mid-Infrared (0.12-20 µm), Planetary Science Journal, doi:10.3847/PSJ/ad5af7. This bundle contains the following collections: data_frankenspectra - The data_frankenspectra collection contains the Frankenspectra. Note that missing data are intentional and represent removed, noisy data. data_raw - The data_raw collection contains the data from which the Frankenspectra were derived. The data files contain the different wavelength sections that were combined into the Frankenspectra. As such, the collection and data files are referred to as 'raw' even though the different spectral sections were processed and calibrated as described in the frankenspectra_description.pdf document in the document collection. document - The document collection contains a description of the dataset and a table of chemical compositions. Each document and data product in this bundle is described by a PDS4 label in a separate file with the same name but with the extension XML. PDS4 labels are XML (eXtended Markup Language) files that conform to the PDS4 Information Model XML schema at https://pds.nasa.gov/pds4/schema/released/. They are best viewed in an XML-aware text editor, and may be used by software that can manipulate XML documents. See these sources for more information. - For information about this bundle, see the document collection in this bundle. - For information about PDS4, see https://pds.nasa.gov/pds4/about/.
