     The DATA directory contains data files for the Viking Lander
Labeled Release archive.  There are three data files for each analysis
cycle and a detached PDS label for each data file.  File types include
detector temperature measurements, head-end temperature measurements,
and radioactivity count data.  Detector, head-end, and radioactivity
count data are in separate files because these measurements were made
at different times with one minute intervals between each measurement.

     The file naming scheme for LR data files has the format:
VLnCmxx.TAB where n is the Lander number, m is the cycle number for
that lander, and xx is the data type code.  Values for data type are
DT for detector temperatures, HT for head-end temperatures, and RC for
radioactivity count measurements.  Note that data collected during
"set-up" periods prior to an analysis cycle are stored in separate
files and are named as: VLnSmxx.TAB, where S is for set-up and m is
the cycle number.  Data file extensions are TAB because the data are
formatted using the PDS table object.  Detached PDS labels have
similar file names, but with LBL as the file extension.
