Mars Analog Soil BUG
Observations
This data set contains bidirectional
reflectance distribution function (BRDF) measurements of
5 Mars soil analogs (AREF_235, AREF_236, AREF_237,
AREF_238, and JSC_Mars1). The measurements
were acquired by the Bloomsburg University Goniometer
(BUG) at Mars Exploration Rover (MER) Panoramic Camera
(Pancam) wavelengths (450-990 nm) using the Pancam
flight spare filters. The data were provided by Michael
Shepard, Bloomsburg University, and archived by the PDS
Geosciences Node.
Root Directory
- Start here for access to the entire volume.
AAREADME.TXT - Introduction to the BUG archive. Read this first.
VOLDESC.CAT - Description of the volume contents as a PDS catalog
object.
|
INDEX Directory - The INDEX directory contains a PDS index file for
this archive. An index file is an ASCII table with each record (or line) in the
table containing information about a single data product in archive. See the
file
INDXINFO.TXT for additional details.
-
INDEX.TAB
- A list of all data files in the archive. Use this file to browse
the data. This file is described by the label
INDEX.LBL.
|
DATA Directory - Within the DATA directory, the data are organized
within 5 folders, corresponding to the 5 soil samples analyzed. Within each of
the 5 folders are tabular data files containing the BRDF results for each of the
MER Pancam wavelengths. Each data product is accompanied by a detached PDS
label. The data are further described in
DATAINFO.TXT.

CATALOG Directory - Files in the CATALOG directory are text files
containing documentation formatted in PDS object description language. The files
contain information about the BUG instrument and laboratory, the data set,
references, and
personnel involved in archiving the data. The contents of this directory are
described in
CATINFO.TXT.
|
EXTRAS Directory - The EXTRAS directory contains ancillary
material that may be useful but is not required for the understanding of the
archive. The contents of this directory are described in
EXTRINFO.TXT.

|
GEOMETRY Directory - The GEOMETRY directory contains files needed to
describe the observation geometry for the data in the archive. Geometry
information and directory contents are described in
GEOMINFO.TXT.
