CheMin (Chemistry and Mineralogy)
July 31, 2015. MSL
Release 9 includes new CheMin raw (EDR) and derived (RDR) data from
sols 805 through 938, November 10, 2014 through
March 28, 2015.
Some EDRs for Telegraph Peak were
obtained toward the end of the sol range
Release 9 (sol 938), but analysis of Telegraph Peak
was not complete
until after that sol. For this
reason, the RDRs for Telegraph Peak are not
Release 9 but will be in Release 10, which will be
December 4, 2015.
CheMin identifies and measures the abundance of
various minerals on Mars using X-ray diffraction. CheMin
analyzes powdered rock samples generated by the rover's
drill and soil samples collected by the rover's scoop.
CheMin data sets are produced by the CheMin Team at NASA
Ames Reseach Center.
