Artemis II: Mission Bundle

Oct. 7, 2026. The Artemis II Mission Bundle is released. It holds the Artemis II Lunar Science Data User Guide and other mission documents, and temperature and humidity data from two data loggers in the Orion storage lockers. See the readme for an overview of the bundle.

Note: Some documents in the Mission Bundle are delayed. This includes the Nikon Lens Distortion Correction document. The Artemis II Preliminary Lunar Science Report and the Artemis II Lunar Science Operations Report will be added to the bundle after their public release through the NASA Technical Reports Server.

The Artemis II Mission Bundle includes documents relevant to the Artemis II lunar science data archives, and the Orion environment data collection. The Artemis II Lunar Science Data User Guide describes the entire Artemis II archive, including data hosted at other PDS Nodes. The Artemis II Mission page links to every Artemis II bundle.

Orion Environment Data

Two Onset HOBO MX1101 data loggers (SN 1104 and SN 1105) recorded temperature, relative humidity, and dew point every 60 seconds from March 26 to April 21, 2026, to characterize the Orion storage lockers that will hold returned samples on future Artemis missions. Each logger's record is a CSV table with a PDS4 label, readable with PDS4 Viewer, a text editor, or a spreadsheet program. Section 3.4 of the User Guide describes where each logger was stowed, and Section 5.5 describes the table fields.

Documentation

Readme.txt gives a high-level overview of the Mission Bundle.

The Artemis II Lunar Science Data User Guide describes the contents, format, and organization of the entire Artemis II science data archive, and the processing used to produce the data products. Read it before using the data.

The Artemis II Open Science and Data Management Plan was written by the Artemis II Lunar Science Team before the mission and guided how this archive was curated.

The Artemis II Lunar Targeting Package is a static PDF capture of the interactive tool the crew used onboard Orion to guide their lunar flyby observations. It combines the Lunar Targeting Plan and the Lunar Geography Review (User Guide Section 5.6.1).

The Artemis II Outgoing Target Request is the JSON file the Lunar Science Team generated during the mission to request targets for the Lunar Targeting Plan (User Guide Section 5.6.2).

The Artemis II Label Definitions define the keywords used in the PDS4 labels across the Artemis II archive.

DOIs for the Artemis II Mission Bundle

Section 1.4 of the Artemis II Lunar Science Data User Guide gives the recommended citation format. DOIs for the other Artemis II bundles are listed on the Artemis II mission page.
