2001 Mars Odyssey: GRS
Element Concentrations
The Odyssey GRS Element Concentrations data set contains element
concentration maps and underlying data for various elements, including chlorine,
iron, water, potassium, silicon, and thorium. These data products were
originally released by the GRS Science Team to the public in March 2006. They
contain data that was collected by the 2001 Mars Odyssey Gamma-Ray Spectrometer
between June 4, 2002, and April 3, 2005. These data are highly processed, and
represent the fully corrected CO2 frost free elemental
concentrations.
See Boynton et al., Concentration of H, Si, Cl,
K, Fe, and Th in the low- and mid-latitude regions of
Mars, J. Geophys. Res. - Planets, 112, E12S99, 2007,
doi:10.1029/2007JE002887.
Data files (*.tab) are tables with fixed-length fields.
Each data file is accompanied by a PDS label (*.lbl) that describes the format
of the data file. Both the data and the labels are ASCII text files.
