Venus Radar Calibrated Multi-Look Maps

2021-08-27. The year 2012 OCP and SCP data products have been updated. Their normalization now matches that of the other data products.

2021-08-10.  This is the first release of the multi-look maps bundle. This release includes data for the northern hemisphere only. The southern hemisphere data will be released at a later date.

Earth-based, polarimetric radar image data for Venus were collected from 1988-2020, using the Arecibo Observatory 12.6-cm (2380 MHz) transmitter in Puerto Rico and receivers at either the Arecibo Observatory or the Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia. This data set contains maps of radar backscatter from Venus assembled from individual looks collected in these observing runs.

The data were provided by Bruce Campbell of the Smithsonian Institution's Center for Earth and Planetary Studies and archived by the PDS Geosciences Node. These products are archived using the PDS4 standard, unlike the delay-Doppler data, which use the PDS3 standard.
