Mars Global Surveyor:
MOLA SHADR
August 25, 2026. The SHADR model is now
archived in PDS4 in the
shadr collection of the
MGS MOLA Topography Derived bundle, which
also contains the MOLA MEGDR topographic maps. The links on this
page point to the PDS4 bundle, which is the maintained version of
these data. The original
PDS3 archive remains available for the
time being.
Spherical Harmonics Topography Model
The MOLA Spherical Harmonics Topography
Model (SHADR) is a numerical transform of
planetary radius values from the MOLA gridded data set
(EGDR) into spherical harmonics using Simpson's Rule
quadrature. When evaluated, the model gives absolute
radius from Mars' center of mass in meters.
